Located in "Tambon Bo Phut" (T.Bo Phut for short), Chawang, Samthong Resort is kind of centrally located in Koh Samui island. Its right next to Thai Internation Hospital and most cabbies know the place. However, its around 17 kms from Nathon Pier, the drop off point for ferries arriving from mainland, mostly from Surat Thani and from Donsak. A private taxi will cost 1000 THB from Nathon Pier to the hotel while a shared ride will cost 150 THB per person. Of course, bargaining will help reduce the cost for a private taxi. My assumption is that the resort is a new property as i found the rooms to be in really good condition. If its not new, then have to appreciate the management for maintaining the property in such a good state. Having said that, its a budget hotel and the facilities are limited. There is an in-house cafe (Coffee World) and a spa. The cafe serves usual stuff like cappucinos, sandwiches and the lot. I didnt try it as i wanted to explore local options. There is a TESCO and a 7/11 nearby and multiple options for local cuisine. There is even a pub/bar close by that plays football matches and rock music. The receptionists are helpful and they make an effort to understand and to answer your questions. The rooms are a revelation. Though small, it was neat and looked new. Mattresess and linen were clean and the towels were changed daily. The bathroom was clean, albeit a bit small. Air conditioning worked well and there is a mini-bar. Two water bottles (600 ml each) were provided daily. There are three floors and the hotel doesn't have a lift. There was no one to help with our luggage as well. These are the only drawbacks tht i observed. On the whole, i would say that the hotel is value for money and would stay here if i go to Koh Samui again. Unfortunately, i dont have pics but the pics available in different sites are accurate.

Would recommend this accommodation for short term stays. I opted for the VIP rooms which are spacious and modern, have lounge, kitchen, large king size bed, bathroom, and satellite TV plus air conditioning in bedroom and lounge. Very fairly priced and I was made aware of discounts for long term rental. Good location close to Tesco shopping mall and Chaweng center, a good place to reside without breaking the bank

“Stopover hotel”

Clean and comfortable bed, no coffee or tea facilities nor hair dryer. Behind the hotel is a Hospital but doesn’t bother me. Receptionist are friendly and helpful, there is coffee shop and massage within the hotel.
