My friend and I were traveling through Brazil and were expecting to stay at a hostel in Paraty. Due to the Cachaca festival, we didn't have many options and happened upon a room at this pousada. Although no English and pretty much no Spanish is spoken, we managed to have a great stay here. The breakfast is delicious, the staff very friendly and accommodating. They have wi-fi as well. The only problem we ran into was the sound level. Our room was on the first floor opening on the courtyard which had a strong echo- we could hear every conversation taking place in the breakfast room even though it was at the far end of the courtyard. Overall, it was a great place to stay- you could hear the waves crashing- it is far enough from the center that there is very little traffic and you get great service. Thank you!

We ended up here as we stumbled into Paraty without any bookings and this pousada was the only one the tourist centre could get us into at 8pm on a Monday night. At first I was worried - for US$40 a night I was expecting, at worst, a bad neighborhood or something akin to a brothel. But my paranoia was entirely unfounded. The room was as nice as we had for R$300 in Sao Paulo the day before, and the only bad aspect of the location was that it was not in the centre of Paraty. This was ultimately not that bad, as the town could be reached with a cheap taxi fare, and in the meantime the pousada itself was metres away from Jabaquara beach. Not a good swimming beach, unless you like wading knee deep through black muddy sand, but a beautiful beach for enjoying with a drink from one of bars along the shore. Good breakfast, not so good if you were one of the last coming late in the morning, but I was still astounded one was included for that price at all. Staff had little English, but were friendly and called taxis for us often. All in all, not five star, but a lovely spot and outstanding value.

My friend and I literally fell over this place when we arrived in Paraty over easter break with nowhere to stay! It is a newly opened BnB and is impeccable. The rooms are super clean, you get lovely co-ordinated linen and towelling, soap and the air con works super well. It is very good value too, we had a lovely hearty breakfast of the usual Brazillian breads, fruit and cake. Unlike some places we had been to in Brazil, it was served in an air conditioned room and hygenically covered from insects/flies! The real plus for this place is how friendly the manager is, she speaks Portuguese, Spanish and French, and having spoken broken 'Spatuguese' for over a week it was a relief to be able to make myself understood without using sign language! She is super friendly and sweet, and helped us out calling bus companies and taxis. The pousada is situated opposite a beach which is fine for dining/walking, but you really need to get into town and take the buses to the great beaches like Trinidade. The one and only downside is that it's a 25 min walk into town or a 20 reais taxi ride, but as I said for the service/value it was worth staying a little bit further out. It was definitely one of the nicest places we stayed at in Brazil where the quality tends to be more miss than hit unless you're willing to pay for 4* upwards. Book with confidence!

Linen and towels clean and rooms are spacious. However no water pressure, so showering is a very long process. 25 min walk to town not that bad, but pousada is end of (if any rain) very muddy road. Linen and towels clean and rooms are spacious. However no water pressure, so showering is a very long process. 25 min walk to town not that bad, but pousada is end of (if any rain) very muddy road. Breakfast would be ok if they could get rid of the fruit flies (lot of them). As the house is middle of nowhere the animal sounds can sometimes disturb sleeping. Can not much comment on service as we didn't have mutual language. For foreign visitors the payment requirement, if booking in advance can be an issue, as 50% deposit has to be paid in Brazilian bank account (luckily had local friends helping).
