“Absolutely wonderful place ”

Stayed there in the last week of September for about 1 week. Our meetings were in kulmbach which is about a 15 min drive away. Upon entering the hotel grounds, the building didn't look to spectacular, but with a lovely old style look. Reception area isn't to be wowed either, service was lovely from each of the member of staff serving us. We went to the restaurant and was immediately wowed by the view. Stunning hilltop view especially on a clear day with the sun setting. Service at the restaurant is a little slow for our liking, but the ladies who served us were pleasant. After traveling round for work and being entertained with traditional food, we welcomed the slightly more refined yet simple dishes that they served. Prices aren't too dear and portions were good. I especially liked the Cod fish with pasta and veg. Also tried the Geschneltzetes and thumbs up to that dish as well. They are generally busy for dinner in the early part, with people driving to the restaurant to dine as well as after having business meetings at the hotel, so if you're hungry and don't like to wait, dine early as coupled with the slower service, it may be a long wait. The rooms are large and so comfortable to be in. My colleague was on the third floor and that room had a loft which then accommodate a second bed. Equally spacious. The rooms also come with a balcony which has 2 chairs. My room faced the main drive way but it wasn't noisy or anything. Not sure about the rooms on opposite side of the corridor if they face the same wonderful view as the restaurant. Overall, this is an absolutely wonderful hotel to stay in. Definitely recommend it for anyone/couples who wants to chill out, or simply splurge on a bit of pamper.

All of our family spent the Christmas holidays at the Reiterhof - including our dog - and we had a wonderful time there. The hotel is situated a little outside the village, so you will need a car if you do not want to stay at the hotel all the time. For dinner ( or lunch ) you should also keep in mind that there are no other options nearby and even by car you will have to drive a little bit. Having said that, the food at the hotel is excellent ( and reasonably priced ), we had dinner à la carte every evening and were more than pleased. The breakfast buffet is very good, too, a vast choice of everything. You can order pancakes or eggs any style in addition to the buffet. The rooms are very spacious, but not well insulated. If you have difficulties sleeping be aware that you will probably hear the noises from upstairs or next door. The fitness room is tiny and not well equipped. Of course you can always find a suitable work out if you are used to work with your own body weight. But if you need weights or machines ( apart from one treadmill and one bike ) or if there are more than 2 persons in the room at the same time, it will get difficult. The spa area is very nice and quite big. All in all the Reiterhof is a very good hotel, but to become really excellent, it would have to undergo some refurbishment to bring it up to standard, starting with the insulation and ending with some of the furniture that has definitely seen better days in some of the rooms. The staff is great, anywhere in the hotel, from reception to restaurant. They - as well as the good - would deserve 5 points, the rest a little less.

We had a very nice weekend (2 nights stay). The hotel and the room has been veery clean. Food has been very tasty- portions not tooo big. Hotel offers free parking space. What's missing to 5 stars: service personbel in the restaurant sometimes has been a bit confused. Restaurant has been a little bit too expensive. However: we enjoyed our stay very much and could recommend.
