We stopped here in order to let our travelling companions take a river cruise to Koblenz thru the Rhine gorge. We did not expect to find such a wonderful town and hotel. We had a superior double here and had a larger room than what we had come to expect in Germany. Shower was roomier. We were given a complimentary fruit beverage upon arrival, plus got to taste 3 different Riesling wines. Breakfast was good. Town is only about 10,000 people but it is very quaint. Lots and lots of restaurants up and down the narrow streets. Took a gondola up to the hills above the town. Lots of grapes being grown in the fields and excellent view of Rhine and the town. If any complaint, the bed was a tight fit, plus there was some noise from upstairs people. Otherwise, a highlight of our trip

We stayed here one night on our cycling trip, and after a rough start (rather grouchy proprietor man at the front desk who didn’t speak any English and seemed sick of cycling guests, although we were only 4 easygoing people), enjoyed our stay. Bike storage was up around the corner through a garage that the proprietor had to open for us. We had a nice big room (though our friends had a tiny single next door to us and a larger single across the street and up several flights of stairs, so they were less thrilled). Our room was over the little walking street but quiet and comfortable. There was plenty of space, a big bed, closets and shelves, a big bathroom, and a good little desk and fast Wifi. The hotel is in a great location in the main old streets of Zell, with one side facing the river and the other the walking street. There is a good, expansive breakfast buffet in the huge dining room downstairs overlooking the river, with friendly and bustling service. Strangely, even though it was still tourist season (early Sept), and it was a Tuesday night, we found almost no restaurants open for dinner and were even turned away at more than one (at 7-7:30pm). But we ended up having an excellent dinner at a friendly Italian restaurant near the hotel.

HWzGK is not the most easiest hotel to find. You have to drive through narrow streets and if you are driving with loud motorcycle (like we) you are little embarassed when driving by restaurant terraces. Hotel has many parking places right infront of the building. We were received by serving us nice glass of cinnamon white wine - it was great and very nice gesture. Everything is within walking distance from the hotel. You wanna try cable car to reach the mountain peak and the statue - the trip is very nice and it goes over wine plantation in 10m height. And it is only 9€ there and back. All the restaurants are also within walking distance. Grosery store is 500m away. Staff was very friendly and professional. The room was very small, allmost like closet, but it was more than enough for us. We did not try to breakfast, but what I saw I can say it was good. Thank you for pleasant stay!

We stayed here as part of a 2 coach booking. Luggage was taken from coach park by hotel. We were given a welcome glass of white wine whilst our cases were unloaded. We stayed here as part of a 2 coach booking. Luggage was taken from coach park by hotel. We were given a welcome glass of white wine whilst our cases were unloaded. Check in rather slow due to amount of people as all were shown to our rooms. Our room was on the 2nd floor, large room with fairly large en-suite shower room. Stairs were fairly narrow and not well lit with a rope handrail. We had a problem with our toilet but this was soon rectified after a visit to reception (no phone in room) Room was fairly basic but bed was comfortable. Evening meal which was 4 courses, was excellent and served by very friendly staff. Breakfast was buffet style and fairly basic with coffee served to table. All hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming.
