Very clean and comfortable place to stay in the Camino De Santiago. We were a family group of 8, and the owner was eager to accommodate our requests. The hotel is linked to Bar Marcela, where we had a simple and delicious dinner. The town is very small, but the place deserves a stop to visit the Monastery.

This hotel is your only choice if you are looking for a private in San Juan de Ortega. This hotel is your only choice if you are looking for a private in San Juan de Ortega. This is a very small town and when in the square outside the church you could be n the set of a spaghetti western. The hotel had comfortable beds, a decent bathroom, good WiFi, which is pretty much all you need on the Camino. The hotel gave us a takeaway day pack for the next days walk which was perfect, in fact better than a breakfast for Camino walkers.

If you want a private room in San Juan de Ortega, this hotel is your only choice. It had comfortable beds, a decent bathroom and good WiFi, which is pretty much all you need on the Camino. Dinner is available at Bar Marcela down the street. Though the set menu only included two options, the food was fine. The price for the room was good (and didn’t include breakfast, because Bar Marcela is not open for breakfast) and the staff were friendly enough.

The hotel had no staff on site. Guests checked in at a bar about 100 meters down the road and then entered the hotel through the unlocked front door. The hotel had no staff on site. Guests checked in at a bar about 100 meters down the road and then entered the hotel through the unlocked front door. There is no lift but as my room was only one flight up this wasn't really an issue. The room had twin beds but only one of them was made up. The mattress was a bit lumpy with protruding springs. There were also 2 dining chairs but no other furniture. There were big windows that looked out to the front garden and the street. The bathroom was a good size as was the shower. There had been a cold snap and the heating was switched on which was much appreciated. The building also had a big common room with tables and chairs and a coffee machine but no kitchen/dining equipment possibly due to coronavirus concerns. There was also an outside patio with a table and chairs but it was too cold for using that day. The wifi didn't work in the bedroom but was good in the common room. Although this looks like an older property and seemed a bit aged it was in good condition with no scuff marks or maintenance issues. It was also very quiet. Overall, La Henera was a reasonable place to stay, it just wasn't quite as I had expected.
