“Best most local feeling resort in Mexico. Great for the adventurer.”

An amazing resort to stay at. Not some packed fancy over priced resort. Hortencia and staff were absolutely amazing. The food was the best I’ve had in Mexico. Especially the dinner that was always the fresh caught fish of the day. If you’re expecting some five star resort but can’t afford it, then don’t stay here only to leave a bad review. The resort is in an isolated location that is near a very awesome little city. If you want to get away to somewhere amazing with a rustic charm and fantastic staff, I highly recommend this place.

Once you get past the age and condition of the property you’ll have a good time. There are NO amenities here - a bar of soap and small bottle of shampoo in the room and that’s it. No hair dryers, no lotion, conditioner, iron, ironing board, no drink or snack machines, no ice maker. But you can get sodas, a cup of ice and bottled water from the bar for a charge of course. There is a small convenience store next to the resort were you can buy beer/wine, ice, etc. There is nothing to do here if you don’t deep sea fish. They told us on check-in there was an on-site spa but we never saw it open and there was no info in the rooms about the services/prices. The rooms do not have TVs in them. We specifically requested a mini frig in our room and some of our group had a microwave but no rooms contain all three. Our room’s back glass door was broken and didn’t close all the way. There was a one-inch gap that we ended up stuffing with towels so what little cool air we had wouldn’t escape. Our room was continually too warm. On the plus side, the staff is excellent, friendly and very accommodating. Suzette was especially helpful as was Ramoné the bartender. The restaurant makes delicious food. It’s best to keep a copy of all your daily receipts for what you charge to your room (everything is charged to your room) as it gets confusing when a group is charging numerous drinks and food to different rooms.

We wanted to try a resort on the Sea of Cortez. We were told not to expect the most updated resort and they were right. The rooms were clean and the food was amazing. They had guest Chefs the first night we were there and Taco night a few days later. The food presentation at every meal was wonderful. We even were able to participate in a Guacamole preparation prior to Chefs night. What fun that was. You are given an arm band when you arrive to show that you are staying at that resort. We saw many (!) locals coming in to the resort to use the pool and hot springs pool. I commented on that when we left. It seems that this is a problem they are trying to fix. One thing to note..NO hairdryers so I didn't look my best flying out. Most resorts have them. Also, everything is downhill so when you leave you are going uphill which may be difficult for those with mobility issues.
