“friendly staff and enjoyable bar experience”

lovely place and scenery. staff were friendly. Allan behind the bar made our evenings when we came down at night. he was very chatty and good company. he had a great sense of humour and didn’t fail to make us laugh! great hotel facilities and very clean and tidy.

My wife and I stayed for one night when we visited, We had an upgraded Lakeview room, which Was great.

The breakfast, evening meals and afternoon tea were excellent, although the evening meal did arrived in record time (~5 mins!). The majority of the staff were very friendly and attentive, however there were one or two that just looked as though they didn't want to be there - this really took away from the whole experience. The valley view room did have a view of the valley but also the car park too. Both bedside lamps and reading lights were not working, and there was a constant noise in the bathroom extractor which sounded like someone was running a tap all the time.

Good Points- Brilliant drift away massages Spa facilities are basic but we enjoyed using them Food very good Bar & Restaurant staff were very pleasant and efficient Negatives- Check in was poor with very little interaction. Our room wasn’t ready which we expected but I had to ask where we could go to wait, we were then guided to a lounge and offered a cupboard to put our bags in. No atmosphere in the hotel at all, seating area next to the restaurant is uncomfortable and tired, there was red wine spilled on the skirting boards and threadbare carpet. You could see right through the hotel areas which required maintenance or more thorough cleaning, door frame in our bathroom was thick with dust, shower silicone was half black and there was black mould on the upper tiles in the shower area, bottom of the door was water damaged. The room itself was fine and had a nice view of the lake but personally I feel for the price it wasn’t good value for money at all, there are other hotels close by charging a similar rate with much better facilities and atmosphere.
