Large family hotel, ideal for children, all inclusive deals available, good swimming pool, soft play area, kids club free of charge, lots to do in the area, walking or cycling for adults, plenty of child friendly days out that will not break the bank. Rooms recently refurbished so no sign we saw of the poor reports from earlier years, think Travelodge or Premier Inn or top end Student accommodation, large simple rooms with kitchenette . Food basic in local style, always multiple choices, but self service and middle of the road, breakfast and dinner better, lunch nothing special. Many deals include unlimited beer and wine plus soft drinks. Not the place for a sophisticated holiday, but great value for adult walkers or cyclists and even better value for family who want things to do in good weather and backup at the hotel if the weather not so kind and accept that for the price its good value, but it isn't Posh. I seen reports that its hard to find your way around hotel, our 7 year old granddaughter just followed the colour coded signs and looked at the arrows when you need to change levels, and she never got lost and certainly we didn't, so dont see why people make these comments

I was searching for the best value hotel with kids in Bavaria and came across this hotel on Tui's German website. Paid 115 euro a night all inclusive for 2 adults, 2 kids in a 1 bedroom apartment in the first week in September which seemed like a bargain to me. Finding out information on this hotel was hard to find in English (try the German version of tripadvisor with google translate for more reviews) so I will try to give more details. The All Inclusive Firstly, their were 3 different coloured armbands for all inclusive guests. All 3 included breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner, but the difference was when you can have the alcoholic drinks. Green was only 18.00-20.00, yellow was 12.00-22.00 and pink 18.00-22.00. All meals and drinks are in the main restaurant next to the reception and are self serve between 18.00-20.00 (Green armband time) and you must find a waiter outside this time. The food was not really that good to be honest but there were a few bright moments now and then. Breakfast : Bread, cheese, cheap sliced meat and either Pate or Camembert (bright moment) along with some muesli and yogurts. Coffee was from a big pot, tea also available. Lunch : Only made it once and it was yesterdays leftover Spaghetti. Tea : Uninspiring cake and the big pot of coffee again. Dinner : Think school dinners. Choice of 2 things, ie meat/potato/spaghetti/more pasta etc. Always found something but wasnt really impressed. Once they had Tomato and Mozzarella with Pesto (bright moment No.2) Drinks : Fountain drinks, self service all day. Both beer and wine on draft. The beer was actually very good. The room Actually the room was better than id expected reading the reviews. Maybe we were lucky as we got a corner room at the back of the resort, overlooking the forest and town below. Although the furniture was old, the beds were good and very comfortable. The bedroom was separate and the shower worked well and was powerful. The sofabed was surpisingly comfy and their was also a decent TV (although all in German). There was also a big balcony which was private and quiet. A negative was the carpet which definitely needed replacing. The resort Originally it looked like there was a lot more to this resort than their actually is. In the resort itself there are 2 pools, an indoor and outdoor one. Both were heated and I couldnt complain about this. The outdoor slide was great for the kids. Also included in the 'All inclusive' is family world, which is basically an indoor kids playground. Think Playgrounds you often find in Malls and thats what it was like. Not as amazing as the pictures lead me to believe. Also, internet was only in the restaurant, not in the rooms and even then it wasnt that great. Nearby So, some of the pictures you see associated with this resort are actually places nearby. There was Kletterworld next door which has rope climbing in the trees (we only looked as our kids were 3 and 6, id say 8-15 year olds would get the most from this). Rodel- und Freizeitparadies was the kids favourite place and definitely worth a visit. Its only a 5 minute drive away, next to Waldwipfelweg which is also worth seeing. Overall, id say read the German reviews so that you dont set your expectations too high, dont get too excited about the all inclusive food but enjoy a great time in and around Saint Englmar which is really a great place to go with kids

After the price we paid for this resort I was realistic in my expectations but I was still disappointed about what I found.....the resort is split into 2. Half holds the self catering side of the business. We were housed in block 6 which sadly had the look and feel of a run down council estate that was long forgotten. Dark and dingy corridors and lifts. The apartment itself was basic and clean ---bit of a 70s taste museum but satisfactory. We visited the restaurant only once as the staff cannot speak English and ignore you to see to the German guests. I can speak conversational German but I still struggled to get any attention! So we found a nice bakery nearby and bought fresh bread etc for breakfast the time we were there. Also we found the lack of wifi disappointing given the large size of resort. So to sum it up you get what you pay for! €150 for 3 nights cannot complain too much!

“very old hotel / no english instructions”

Spend a night in this hotel. Not very excited about it Everything was in german with no translations. You could easily get los in this huge complex Rooms very dated. 1970 furniture. Don't go unless you grasp german spoken and written as staff can hardly understand english
