Getting to the hostel was probably the biggest downfall of the place. Though it is close to a metro station, it takes a lot of navigating to get to it (luckily the metro system is very organized and easy to understand). The particular station that is near to the hostel only had stairs when I was there and those were a major major pain getting full, huge luggage up. The receptionists at the hostel were very friendly and helpful and spoke excellent English (and tolerated terrible Spanish). The twin double private room that we were in was clean and roomy enough. Once you leave and head out to see the sights, don't plan on coming back until your day is over, because, just like getting there for the first time, getting there again was another pain. The last day we chose to take a taxi to the airport for convenience. They do have a driver that works with them (or they did, when I was there) with a flat rate of 35 euros to go to the airport (not a terrible deal at all). All you have to do is let them know when to schedule the pickup.

First of all this is a humble hotel. Once you know that, you should know that it is great for what you pay. The staff is very kind and our room is very clean. First of all this is a humble hotel. Once you know that, you should know that it is great for what you pay. The staff is very kind and our room is very clean. We have a room with a view to an inner patio and it is quiet. You also have the option to eat at the restaurant at a discount, which is door to door. The specialty is grilled meat, and for the price you pay (16€ for the entrecote) it is quite good. Location is not a problem. Metro is a minute away. If you are on a budget, and you don't mind the drawbacks, this is a humble but good place to stay.

“Budget hostel in an average neighbourhood but close to station”

My mum and I stayed here only for one night as we could not find a hotel in the city centre due to the Barcelona vs Madrid game. The male receptionist was friendly and kind to alter my booking so I got another 10% off. The hostel itself is very basic but clean. The neighbourhood is not flash but there are some fruit and veges stores close by and it seems safe enough. The hostel is only two minutes walk from the subway.

I stayed for one night, visiting friends in Madrid, at what was apparantly (in a general sense) a very busy weekend for tourism in Madrid. Hostal Granado would not have been my first choice. The value is just about alright, but no more. The receptionist was quite friendly. The room I found to be slightly disappointing for the price asked, but the bed was fine. Expect a fair bit of noise from the street till late. It is not a room you will want to spend a lot of time in. The location of Hostal Granado is in an impoverished neighbourhood, but close to the metro station which will get you to the centre of Madrid in about 15 minutes. We were able to have a nice breakfast in a bar on the corner of the street, about 50 metres away from Hostal Granado.
