“Well presented hotel, room adequate, but no air con”

Stayed one Tuesday night with business colleagues. Well presented hotel in a largely residential area. Plenty of car parking, welcoming reception. Evening meal at the onsite Marco Pierre White restaurant was very good, attentive staff with a sense of humour. Retired to the bar afterwards, but this closed at 10:30pm. Gone are the days of 'the bar stays open until the last guest leaves!'. Room was clean and bed very comfortable, other than there is no air conditioning. there was at one time as the grill is still above the entrance but the control panel has been replaced with a brass panel. Too expensive to run it? There was at least a fan (and a safe) in the wardrobe. There was no guest welcome information in the room at all, no feedback form, and no information about the 24/7 room service menu choices. I don't know if guests staying a few more nights or non-business group bookings might get more in their room or not? Marked down one star for the lack of air con and the early closing of the bar.

“Too many issues”

We stayed here for one night as part of a wedding party (held elsewhere). We had really high hopes as it’s a good looking hotel and the rooms were large and very nice. However there were too many problems. The next morning our shower was cold, as were several others in our party and when we went down to breakfast a member of staff was up a ladder in the stairwell apparently fixing the issue. It had obviously happened before as this was no plumber just a member of the team. My son’s kettle in his room also didn’t work and another of our party booked a family room with a cot only to find there was no cot in the room! This was discovered late evening on return from the wedding. To top the visit off we were overcharged by £30 and was asked to pay an extra £20 for early check in when I had paid £40 for this the previous day. This was sorted but it shouldn’t have happened in the first place. This was so disappointing as I was seriously thinking of booking for a Christmas event for 10 people but the issues really put me off. What a shame.
