A friend recommended this chain to me, so I just selected the branch which is closest to the people I was visiting. Large room, clean, basic toiletries provided. Electric kettle, 2 bottles of water a day. Bed softer than usual for a Chinese budget hotel (which isn't saying much, but I slept well there). Had a choice of opening the windows (flyscreens installed) or using the aircon. Decent hot water and water pressure. Wifi was OK for email, but not fast enough for video. A USB cable was provided if you wanted to go wired. Location very close to metro, and walking distance to Xintiandi, good choice of eats locally - convnience and bread shops, cheap noodles/ baozi right through to international chains and independent restaurants. Reception staff were friendly and efficient, but I don't know if they spoke any English. There is community dancing with loud canned music in the park across the road until 10pm each night, so close the windows if you want to sleep earlier! View was just windows of the next aprtment block, but they are far enough away that there's plenty of natural light.

Basic hotel with necessary amenities equipped. Best location which just take you 2-3 minutes walk to Subway station. There is a 24-hour convenience store just right beside the hotel and many restaurants & cafe nearby.

The hotel is part of a china franchise, hence mandarin/chinese is usually the primarily language. It is quite centrally located, 3 mins to MaDang metro, or 10 mins walk to XinTianDi. The area is mainly a residential area, with a 24-hours convenience store and bakery beside the hotel. Opposite the hotel is a restaurant serving cantonese cuisine, famous snacks and noodle shops. Non-chinese food persons can opt for Starbucks, KFC and Subway near the metro. The hotel itself has a restaurant that serves famous shanghainese cuisine so it's worth a try since hotel guest get a small discount off the prices. Room is decent and rather spacious, with daily housekeeping services and basic toiletries provided. However there are limited non-mandarin/chinese cable channels on the TV, and wifi speed in room is extremely unstable. Unfortunately there are construction on-going nearby and we were usually woken up by the noise at around 8am. While it's worth the value, it may not be the best choice especially if you don't speak mandarin/chinese.

Good location. Very close to Madong MRT on line 9 (5 minute walk). Staff didn't speak but English but didn't mind too much. You need to pay a deposit for the room. This is a basic hotel with restaurant downstairs. Didn't eat at restaurant but it looked ok and was always busy. Stayed in a standard twin room. Room was clean, bright... basic but functional. No fridge/no free water etc. Hated the smoking aspect of this hotel - smoke seeped into the room, hallway stunk of smoke. The room was quiet enough... with the exception of Chinese guests talking loudly in the hallway, and leaving their doors open to the hallway (and talking loudly). Bed was on the harder side but typical of budget asian hotels. Bathroom was a little awkward - need to shut bathroom door to use toilet. Water goes everywhere when you have a shower. Internet was very flakey - kept on getting booted off vpn. There are some nice restaurants in the area - starbucks, subway and kfc are just across the road. KFC is different here - they serve some healthier food options. There is a nice Yakitori restaurant just up the road, away from the MRT. Laundry was horrendously expensive - $5AUD to launder a t-shirt!!! There are no laundromats in the immediate area. If you want to avoid this expensive cost, take a walk or taxi to 468 Lujiabang road where there's a small self service laundry called Bubble Laundromat (it's in a small shop complex set back from the main road). You can buy a coupon from the man across the way. Our stay was okay. If the internet was better I would stay here again.
