“Great staff but the hotel is falling apart”

We stayed at the Le Meridien while in Jeddah for the Formula 1 race. I was traveling with my brother, his wife, and their toddler. We reserved a suite as well as an additional room. The hotel staff was extremely accommodating, and they were able to confirm that we would have the connecting room to the suite so that we essentially had a two bedroom suite configuration. This would have been the perfect arrangement, but the connecting room had an unpleasant mildew odor and I ended up switching that room for one that smelled better. I didn't want to risk a health issue by spending 4 days breathing the mildew air. The room they moved me to did not have the same issue, and neither did the suite, so I'm not sure how much of an issue it is for the hotel overall. The one big thing anyone should consider before booking here is that the hotel is old and has not been remodeled in at least 15 years. They don't have outlets near the beds and everything just feels a little run-down. Over our entire stay, the staff were great. The front desk took care of all our needs, and our housekeeper was really friendly and did a great job keeping our room clean. We did have one issue with the concierge where they sent us in a car and did not explain to the driver where to take us. We ended up driving around lost for almost 30 minutes trying to find the location. The breakfast buffet was adequate for us. Not particularly fancy, but pretty much what I would expect. It took us about 30 minutes each day to get to the track by Uber from the hotel, which was fine given how much cheaper it was than hotels near the track.

“Price / value is good”

I am always coming back to this Le Meridien. It has its age and flaws and no, it is not fancy and 5 stars is not applicable anymore, but they have adjusted the price to a really fair level. The service is good and therefore I think that price / value is good.

Always happy to support Marriott hotels as a gold Bonvoy member. Sadly, this hotel is in desperate need of a renovation. Rooms are very old and outdated. Service at the front desk was not the best, took very long to check in with only one front desk service team. Breakfast was not bad, probably the best part of the stay. Surprised Marriott does not insist on this hotel upgrading its look & feel.
