The hotel room is spacious and the breakfast functional, The kitchenette is remarkably well-equipped and the location is excellent. Run by the couple Flåten, it caters to most of the needs of a visitor to Sogndal in a friendly manner. The express buses into and out of Sogndal no longer stop practically outside the hotel (stop: Sogndal Shopping Centre, Sogningen). This can make lugging suitcases up and down to the bus-station inconvenient, although the distance is doable without exertion. Our flight to Oslo changed its timings and the airline decided to depart earlier. The corresponding airport bus also changed its timings. We had the new timings and reached the bus-stop (Sogningen) a good 10 minutes before. Yet there was no sign of the airport bus. When we finally called the central travel information, they had no clue about the airport bus timings. When we called the airport, we were told that the bus had already reached the airport - it had left earlier than scheduled,We called for a taxi, but Sogndal Taxi service is not keen on customers on a sunday afternoon - they just did not pick up the phone. I walked back to the hotel to check if i was dialling the correct number. Erik Flåten, who had given me the timing of the airport bus, immediately confirmed the number and called the taxi service himself asking for a taxi immediately. The 15 minutes drive to airport and we could still make the flight. As i called the airport from the bus-stop to inform them that we were coming by taxi, Erik Flåten stopped his car next to me. We got into the car, luggage et al, without questions. Erik told us that the taxi could not come before 10 minutes later and by the time it picked us up and drove to the airport, the flight would have left without us. We called the airport again, informing them that we were on our way, finally. The last passengers to arrive, we made the flight, only due to the extraordinary service and presence of mind shown by Erik Flåten of Park Hotel, Sogndal. Thank you, Erik.We will certainly be back.
