“Family”

The hotal was nice and staff friendly but very disappointed with food , this is no way a 5 star the food was so disappointing we ended up eating out serval nights . Thankgod it was only a 5 day holiday but I always book 5 star and Iv never had such a bad experience.

just spent 5 nights at the hotel to celebrate my friends 60th birthday...and must say we were very disappointed. This hotel is not 5 star, it is a 3 star...whilst the lobby area can be classified as maybe 4 star the rest of the hotel is not. The rooms are very dated, dirty and lacks comfort. We requested an area for a birthday breakfast - the staff were not interested, they barely understand your requests, they certainly wont go out of there way to help. food was okish, and as a vegetarian there was a good choice however labelling of food is poor, cross contamination on cutlery was so poor and when i tried to explain, again they were not interested. We were all inclusive but recommend that you venture outside. Pool ok but every sun lounger is stained, uncomfortable and generally not well kept. Inside pool has a constant sulphar smell. Entertainment was good - Jimmy, Hannibal, and Kiko all try their best to make the evenings worth the stay at the bar. This place is ok if your travelling for a short stay but certainly not anything more than 5 days.

This Hotel is definitely not 5 star its a 3 star at best. When you first pull up outside you think wow, when you walk in to Reception with the floor to ceiling windows and fancy lounge area you think your in a 5 star Hotel. The Reception staff were friendly and helpful. BUT when I got to my room ,to say I was disappointed was an understatement. The bed had a sheet on top, with a runner at the bottom of the bed. You could see clearly the bed was all crumbled up because of the mattress protector ,it wasn't fitted on the bed properly. The spare bed in the room, (which all my friends had, we all had our own rooms) had a throw on it, the pleats were all crumbled up ,not ironed properly it looked awful. I had a nice sea view, but was spoilt by the dirty floor, the balcony had all pealing paint, tacky cheap plastic table and chairs, above me had all streaks of orange and in the crease of the wall a line of spider pods. I did not sit out on that balcony once. The room and bathroom was so old fashioned, really needs bringing up to date, as it looks like a very old ship. My shower curtain had a loop missing, so a flap was dangling down, it fell down on me 3 times when I pulled the shower curtain across in the bath. (No nice walk in shower here,it's a bath with a shower). The curtain pole was a cheap plastic one that had suction pads either end, but didn't do its job properly. The metal plug in the bath got stuck in somehow, so when I had a shower the water didn't run away, so I had to go to Reception desk as they never answer the phone. In the sink there is a metal plug but it isn't one of those pop up ones you press ,it's just placed in the sink and you lift it up for the water to run away. On arrival I ran my finger over the metal toilet holder flap and took a photo of it, as it left a clean line the rest was filthy and so was my finger. I couldn't believe the state of the floor behind the loo, and around the base of the toilet, their workmanship was really poor. Stained lampshades by the bed, and the chair in the room covered in stains. There was a chair put out in the hallway, covered in stains. The whole hotel needed a paint job, looks so run down. The food was good for lunch and dinner, not for breakfast, one of my friends had a boiled egg one morning and when she cut the top off it was green. Made us all feel sick. All the Hotels I've been to the person doing the omelette's did them to your requirements, but this Hotel cooked the omelette's in advance they were all piled up on one plate, plain and burnt. I had to heat my soup and food a few times in the microwave, which did not have a microwave plate in ,just an ordinary one. We we're not told the Al-a-Cart was on a Tuesday when we arrived for our 8 day holiday on Monday September 30th, we thought we could book any day, (as you got one day Al-a-cart, included in our package). So the Reception made it for another day, but when we went to the other Restaurant they said it was closed and over at the ordinary restaurant which had a secluded part of the restaurant. Our waiter just started bringing things for us to eat which we hasn't ordered ,we hadn't been given a menu, Most of us didn't like what he bought over, so we ended up just serving ourselves , as we normally did. It was like something out of faulty towers. The indoor pool had no water in it, so out of use. You had a choice of 2 pools one was always full, people had already put towels on sunbeds, but it was very noisy all day, as it was the pool with music and the animation team were. We liked the pool through the big arch, much bigger and quite, and you could always get a bed there. The pool areas were kept clean and tidy. But through the arch the tile flooring was always wet and very slippery, you had to walk really carefully, I nearly slipped a couple of times in flip-flops. A large man did slip and went down very hard, we didn't know if he hurt himself. There should have been a sign up saying slippery floor, someone could really injure themselves. The bar menu had Remi Martin Brandy on it but when my friend asked for it, they said they didn't have Brandy. Two friends of my drink wine, they tried the Rose, white and red and both said they were disgusting, they ended up having to pay for a better quality one. And the bar ran out of certain drinks the last 2 days of the holiday, ( Really) They also didn't have proper cocktail glasses, or many other ones at that, I got served a cocktail in a very small glass, when I asked for a bigger one ,it was put in a half pint mug.. In the dinning room, I was forever having to asked for either a soup bowl or spoon or both, and they would go away and come back with, 1 item when there was several people waiting for the same thing. The reception ladles toilets, were always in a state, with the cubicle floors being flooded, I reported it to Reception on many occasions, once I said your toilets are disgusting. This Hotel does seem to favour the many people that come for functions and seminars, rather then British Guests. The evening entertainment is a man on a keyboard singing, twice a week once inside, once outside, another man on a Saxophone and singing twice ,again once inside once outside both very good. But the outside you had to sit on stone walls, then if you wanted a drink had to walk all the way back to the bar. The so called disco was playing all Tunisian music, we didn't mind a night or 2 but not every night, we had to ask towards the end of the holiday if the dj had any Soul music, which he did play for us once nearly everyone had gone. If they have so many seminars at this Hotel surely they should spend some money on it, re- painting everywhere, inside the Hotel . Revamping, bedrooms and bathrooms. Get quality bed covers, and change lampshades or get them cleaned, throw out those big dirty chairs, and get better quality ones same as the balcony furniture . This Hotel wasn't our choice, we had booked to stay at the Bel Azur, but Loveholidays mucked up our holiday and we got given this Hotel instead. I would never stay here again, 5 star it is not.
