“Worth a try but prepare for mediocre buffet food.”

I rated this hotel at 4/5 overall although there are some issues - see below. Plus points: Staff are to a person first rate. Everyone gives a greeting and they attend to requests efficiently. Location suited us. Very close to la coleta and costa adeje with a fifteen minute public bus to los Christianos a minute from front door. The building and the grounds are immaculately kept. Pools are gorgeous. Our room was a Privelege one but we were steerage so didn’t get coffee pods (machine and kettle were there). Room is very well appointed, great shower, fluffy towels but a bit irksome to find you have to pay to use the safe. Breakfast was wholesome and we relished a free glass of cava as a wake-up. Omelettes made to order a fried eggs kept topped up at the station. Check-in and reception very efficient and helpful. We arrived late and the hombre at the desk suggested we leave our luggage with him and head to the buffet before it closed. There are a few quirky things go on at this hotel which don’t make sense to me. You’re given a wrist band at check-in. I don’t like and removed mine but I understand why they do it - half- boarders, all inclusive, Privelege club call be easily recognised by bracelet colour. Seemed somewhat academic because I was never conscious of anyone looking at mine and they don’t ask for room numbers at any buffet sittings (yes, you could pay room-only and avail yourself of full-board, but that would be stealing!). As for the Privelege club.. 32euros each per day to sit in a fenced-off area at the pool and have access to the Sky Bar (spectacular rooftop area with a pool which closes as the non- privileged punters are let in at 7pm). It all seemed to me to be a bit out-moded having a two-tier system in what is clearly a middle of the range hotel. Then there’s the food! The buffet is set in a giant cafeteria, although there is a nice terrace. There’s plenty salad and a host of stews, fish dishes and carved meats. The quality is at best mediocre and to my mind clients would be better served with vastly fewer dishes which were nicely prepared and served. Last gripe, they charge to refresh pool towels - never seen this before. Overall, it’s a good place to stay with loads of loungers dotted around the beautifully landscaped pool areas.

On arrival after requesting a high floor many months previously we were advised that we had been given a 1st floor room which was actually 2 floors below the reception area. Having arrived 4 hours prior to check in time we were advised that they would see what was available before we returned. Returning at 3pm we were advised of the same room as previous. We questioned why this hadn’t been looked into and received a shrug of shoulders. We were told we would receive a letter during the evening as to whether we could change rooms. A pro forma stencil letter arrived late in the evening stating that we would be given a different room at 3pm the next day. We decided after more than a 24 hour wait and unable to unpack and settle in that we would stick with the virtually pitch black room due to the lack of light due to the room’s proximity. We found the reception staff to be totally incompetent and really quite rude during any of our interactions with any of them throughout the holiday. Our wrist bands stopped working after 7 days which were dealt with but in a very off hand manner and no apology was received for our inconvenience. We found the hotel food to be ok and service in the restaurant good. The room was ok but the bathroom is in need of a refresh. Towels were of good quality and changed as required. The floor in the room and bathroom were dirty as were the corridor carpets which also had many stains. The gardens and pools were well maintained though many of the tiled walkways were in a state of disrepair. The hotel has a very nice lobby reception area with piano bar. The entertainment room has a damp smell and is in need of a refresh. With regard to the acts in the piano bar they were of a reasonable standard however in the entertainment room only one act was worth watching - The Elton John Tribute- the rest generally sang out of tune with no charisma whatsoever. The hotel is in a nice area and one that we like very much close to La Caleta and next to the beach. Would I return- probably not which is a shame because H10 hotels in my experience are generally better than this one.
