“Another Wonderful Stay”

This was our second time staying here. We were greeted warmly and quickly by Jeff at the front desk and welcomed back . He worked very hard and was able to get us a room in the same location as the one we enjoyed on our previous stay. The hotel has completed a renovation on the lobby since our last stay and it is just beautiful. Lots of tropical plants, birds, and even penguins. The rooms in the Atrium Tower are spacious, well appointed and have a gorgeous ocean view. Our housekeeper was excellent and efficient. Shops were plentiful in the corridors, and meals in the restaurants were enjoyable. Morning Breakfast Buffet was well done and delicious. The pool area is undergoing a bit of transformation but was mostly finished. The times we attempted to use the concierge to book excursions didn't work well since there was only one person on duty and she was heavily involved with other guests booking and asking questions. Maybe a spot to leave our name and a number so they could call us when they were free would be nice. We didn't want to sit and wait for an extended time. But that was our choice. At check in we were told that we could use the pool area at the Hyatt Vacation Club that is next door. This was ideal because the Hotel pool was over flowing with conventioneers and 2 chairs together were almost impossible to find most days. The Vacation Club has a more tropical pool area and smaller secluded sections that felt less crowded and more conducive to relaxing for us. We were able to purchase drinks and food that they charged to our room at the hotel so a nice option My only critique at all is that the pool at the hotel can seem hectic and crowded with the new design. The giant wall on one end doesn't allow for smooth traffic flow in and around the pool. Since the renovation is not complete, maybe there are some plans to redesign these areas, but in the mean time... the next door pool was a great choice for us. If you get a chance the Night Sky Tour on the rooftop was exceptional. The gentleman that runs the program is a real pro and the area set up for it was very well done. A wonderful way to see so many stars and planets,, and a great view of the moon up close! Thanks for the great stay and for the exceptional staff.

“Great first trip to Hawaii”

Our first trip to Hawaii was fantastic at this resort!! We were able to upgrade our stay to a beachfront suite which accommodated our family of 4 perfectly (6 & 4yo kids slept on pull out couch). The views of the ocean from the room were amazing and the poolside food service was excellent. This was not our first trip to Maui but our first time staying at the Hyatt. “Great to be back”

“Not Adult Only, But a Little to Kid Friendly”

We were here the 3rd week of February. Very friendly staff and the property is well maintained. There is easy access to the beach right next to a very large pool. The maid service is extremely good and the concierge is very knowledgeable. The resort is on the beach walk so you have easy access to other restaurants and bars within walking distance. It's also a 10 minute walk to Whaler's Village. For us, there were a few downsides. If you're an empty-nester and are over the experience of traveling with kids, this might not be the place for you. Knowing it's not an adult only resort, it was a lot more family friendly than expected. Another downside, for us any way, was the restaurant options. The only options for drinks and meals is the poolside bar and 'Ūmalu restaurant. The other two restaurants/bars on the property open at 5pm. However, all of the restaurants are good and have a variety of offerings. If you like sushi, you definitely need to eat at Japengo. Excellent sashimi and rolls! We tried booking online but they were full. We took a chance and called and were able to get in. For steaks, Son'z is amazing. My wife is not much of a red meat person, but she loved the New York strip. Again, we were able to call and get in. We rented a beach front cabana for a couple of days. The service was amazing and a lot more quiet than the pool area. If it was available, we would have rented the Ohana Tent, which is extremely private and beach front. We didn't attend the Luau, but we could hear it! We were in an ocean front room in the Lahaina Tower and the luau was literally right next door. The first night was overwhelming, but we made dinner plans for the other nights the luau performed to avoid the disturbance. We booked a whale watching tour with Gemini, which was amazing. I highly recommend booking anything with this exceptional charter company. Overall, we enjoyed our stay; however, we would probably not return to this particular resort for the reasons mentioned above. YMMV
